Lily and Moonlight Draconis

One fateful day at the core of the earth, two baby dragons were playing. Their names were Lily and Moonlight Draconis, and though they were born within the same Draconian Week (Two Earth years) and to the same dragon royalty, they were nearly opposites. Lily was lime green with a flower on her cheek, but the center of the flower had a honey-colored sun crystal, the source of her powers. Lily’s wings and tail were decorated with pink and turquoise swirls and stripes that had a hypnotizing effect. She had a pink leaf-like shape at the end of her tail and she often wore a daisy chain headband.

Moonlight was gray and had a navy blue moon silhouette across her chest and a diamond shaped, navy blue moon crystal on her forehead, also the source of her power. Moonlight’s wings were navy blue as well as a navy blue moon shape at the end of her tail. She often wore a silk navy blue headband with a moon on it. Soon enough their parents Neptune and Galaxor realized they were as different as night and day, literally. Moonlight had fire and night powers and took after her father Galaxor. They were both quite ruthless but peaceful at times. Lily, the younger of the two, had day and earth powers and took after her mother, Neptune. They were both social, talkative, and softies on the inside, but everyone knew not to get on her bad side.

After roughly a week both baby dragons could talk. That was when the big news came. The events leading up to it were innocent enough. Moonlight had just discovered how to use her moon crystal and was bragging to Lily about it. This had hit a nerve, as Lily had not discovered yet to use her sun crystal. She got so mad that she flew all the way up to the ceiling. Obviously, Moonlight followed, being the caring sister she was, and much to her surprise Lily’s eyes were pure, milky, and white. Moonlight screamed. Neptune and Galaxor came running in. Lily had closed her creepy, white eyes, but as soon as Neptune asked her what was wrong, she opened them.

“Close your eyes!” Galaxor yelled, but Moonlight was too curious. She snuck a peek at her strange sister and what she saw was even odder than before. Lily’s eyes had what looked like shifting turquoise and pink waves that matched the ones on her wings and tail. Her wings were beating slowly and her tail was swinging side to side like an upside down metronome. Both were mesmerizing. Then she started to sing/chant in Ancient Draconian.

“Lahn o beaey maahbas ery cohman,” (Listen and obey my every command) she sang beautifully. “Claw yourself!” she hissed in a voice definitely not hers. Immediately Moonlight obeyed, but she didn’t know why. Then she hissed and writhed on the floor, for dragon's blood was a strong acid and could sear through any material save dragon scales, teeth, and claws. She spoke once again, “Ne do!” Immediately the blood stopped. Lily shut her eyes then descended. She opened her eyes and they were the normal lime green. Moonlight was still in shock.

Neptune and Galaxor opened their eyes. Neptune gasped. “I’m so sorry,” Lily whispered, but then realized they were looking at something above her.

“Look up,” Galaxor whispered back. They did and what they saw astounded them. There, in ancient Draconaglifs, were the words “The Saviors.” Or written in Draconaglifs: The Saviors.

"The Saviors?” Moonlight asked, “Of what?” “So first of all . . . you're a hypnosis dragon!” Neptune screamed. “Ummm . . . I guess so... yes,” Lily said. “By Mosomis' beard!” Galaxor breathed. “I'm going to call you Hypno!” Moonlight said. “Ooh, ooh, can you rename me Hypnolily, please?!” Lily asked her voice full of excitement. “Yep,” Neptune nodded, still stunned. “Yay!” Lily said. “Yep,” she nodded again. “Kids, I think you deserve the truth,” Galaxor told them. “Truth?” Hypnolily asked. “Yes, the truth,” Neptune said. “So long before the peaceful reign of us, the Draconis dragon's, there was an evil dragon named Mosomis that ruled the universe. He was evil and no one could stand up to his rule. So the world fell into chaos and evil. Eventually, the good dragons had enough. We had a secret convention, and your mother and I were voted to stand up to him. After a long hard battle in which many good dragons were slain we imprisoned Mosomis in a black hole using a crystal generated by the happiness of the people finally being free. But first, the crystal chipped. The pieces formed the Crystalians, the people that can see dragons. Some people found out about the Crystalians and formed a sort of club against them. The AFEOC. The Alliance for Extermination of Crystalians,” Galaxor said.

“Well that's not very creative,” Moonlight and Hypno said in unison. “Jinx, double jinx, triple jinx, personal blackout!” Hypnolily screamed as fast as she could. “Ha ha! Joke's on you! I like the dark,” Moonlight retorted. “No, it means you can't talk until I release you!” Hypno slapped back. “Dang it!” Moonlight scowled playfully. “Girls, this is no laughing matter!” Galaxor glowered. “These Crystalians are our life force. If they go extinct, we will weaken and so will the crystal that overpowers the evil of Mosomis!” The sisters gasped and looked at each other. They had a silent agreement. They were going to help. The girls then asked the other pressing question that they had wanted to ask. “So, I don't really get how the crystal thing works,” Moonlight said. Hypno stifled a chuckle and Moonlight glared at her.

“So it works like this . . . the humans were so happy that they were free that they acquired a tiny bit of magic each. So we summoned that magic to create a magic crystal to push into the black hole and seal it. But then Mosomis slammed into the crystal, hoping to pop it off the front of the black hole, but he only chipped it. Those chips created the Crystalians,” Neptune explained.

“Oh,” Moonlight said.

“Well,” Galaxor interrupted, “It looks like it's time to go to bed.” Everything went without incident, for a while until one day many years later. One Draconian week, to be exact.
